Raff's opera is now celebrated as a real discovery in Germany. The premiere took place in Weimar at the National Theater — "Samson" was a complete success with the audience, with long-lasting applause and many shouts of "Bravo" for the singers, the director, the conductor, the orchestra, and also for Joachim Raff… 170 years later than planned.
